Alice V. Brock is a retired second grade teacher who writes award-winning middle-grade novels. If you are interested to learn more about her, you can read her bio here. Award Winning Middle-Grade Novels
River of Cattle has collected several of awards, including:
- The 2017 Western Fictioneer’s Peacemaker Award in the young adult/children’s novel category… all of the award winners here: Peacemaker Award Winners (published in 2016)
- The 2017 Will Rogers Medallion Award, where out of over 200 entries in the most competitive category of the contest, Young Readers, (encompassing upper elementary to young adult novels). Alice placed Fourth—bested by three authors with many years of writing experience and multiple books. Alice was honored to be in their company.

The old west has not disappeared, and Alice has made it her mission to bring real people in history back to life in her books. Alice enjoys not only writing historical fiction for young people, she loves teaching about the history of the west and explaining the true events that inspire her stories.
